Team YP sponsor all female LOL team that can't compete in Riot events

The ever continuing drama of team YP seems set not to end any time soon, with the group taking control of an all female LOL team.

That can’t compete in any Riot events at all.

As you may remember a few weeks ago we reported that new rules effectively banned any Team YP players from official Riot events. Under the new rules all teams sponsored by people who Riot deemed to be inappropriate in nature would not be allowed to play. This is set to continue with Team YP’s new LOL team, which also incidentally features an all female roster.

In terms of the team the lineup is as follows (from the Team YP blog):

TOP: Joanna “Myshka” Pigla
MID: Tanja “Escape” Reither
ADC: Laura “Aryenzz” Muñoz
SUPPORT: Marlies “Maestra” Brunnhofer
JUNGLE: Patrycja “Reniferka” Krumin

All of the players are relatively seasons veterans with Myshka making her debut in season 1 and Escape in season 2. Aryenzz took a 1st place win at Dreamhack Bucharest and Reniferka has been appearing in a few different female teams for the past few years. Maestra is quite new to the professional scene, at least compared to her team mates, but is already making a name for herself with the other members of the team.

Speaking of the team on their blog Team YP said “Team YP believes in equal opportunity for all, which is why our organisation is ecstatic to support the female LoL scene by forming its own roster, consisting of some top female talents active on the EU West & EU Nordic and East servers”.

It is unfortunately uncommon these days to see major professional female esports players, let alone a whole, all female esports team. Regardless of Team YP’s namesake and sponsors,it is excellent to see them taking the right steps for equality, in a mostly male dominated sport. Best of luck to the girls and we can’t wait to see them in action.
